TRACES at Tonarium

A performative experience at the intersection of dance, technology and perception. The project explores the relationship between the body and the system, between what is physical and fleeting and what is recorded, analysed and processed by sensors. During the event the dancers’ movement becomes an interface. Sensors track the body’s dynamics, and every gesture affects the behaviour of the surroundings: light, image and sound respond in real time, creating an immersive, shifting space.

It is a story about the traces we leave in space, in systems, in memory. The project was created during an artistic residency at Tonarium — New Media Lab, where over two weeks a new language of relations between movement and technology was developed.
