SIKSA at Tonarium

Concert
SIKSA

SIKSA (a Yiddish word, colloquial and pejorative, for a young girl perceived as vulgar, inexperienced and immature) is a feminist duo composed for voice, bass, text and bodies. SIKSA’s concerts combine the energy of a punk concert, performance poetry and contemporary dance, and in interaction with the audience take on one-of-a-kind dramatic qualities. Within the limitations of their instrumentation and stage presence the duo finds the strength to forge their own path. It draws sometimes on childhood memories, other times on fairy tales and legends, or on reality reworked through SIKSA’s unrestrained and unbridled gaze. In its work, the personal meets the political and the unspoken meets the screamed.
