Cecilie Waagner Falkenstrøm

Award-winning Danish artist who has been working with artificial intelligence, including language models and GPT, since 2016. Her interdisciplinary practice explores how AI, space exploration, and biotechnology are reshaping our understanding of humanity, identity, and human–technology relationships.

Combining art, philosophy, science, and engineering, her work examines data bias, power structures, the anthropomorphism of AI, and the ethical and emotional implications of technological progress. Her work has been exhibited at institutions including the Victoria and Albert Museum, Ars Electronica, The Kennedy Center, Wellcome Collection, and Copenhagen Contemporary. She also created the first AI and blockchain artwork launched into space aboard the International Space Station.

Her awards include the Lumen Prize for Digital Art (2017, 2021), an Honorary Mention from Prix Ars Electronica (2023), and the TECHNE Award. She leads Artificial Mind, a Copenhagen-based art-tech studio creating immersive artworks and AI-driven experiences at the intersection of contemporary art and emerging technology.
